Founded in 1970, Mobile Meals of Tucson is a local non-profit that helps elderly and disabled adults to continue living independently in their own homes by delivering medically-tailored meals to clients five days a week. Nearly 100,000 meals are delivered each year to homebound adults who require specific diets (diabetic, renal, etc.) to improve or maintain their health.
We currently serve most of Tucson, Green Valley and Sahuarita. We do not provide services in Vail, Marana, Oro Valley, or Northwest Tucson.
Mobile Meals of Tucson provides:
We work in conjunction with the client, their healthcare team and ten food production facilities in Southern Arizona to ensure that each client receives a meal that is nutritious and meets their daily dietary requirements. Clients pay only what they can afford on a sliding scale.
Potential clients are referred to Mobile Meals by a variety of people including physicians, family members, social workers, home health care workers and dialysis units. Clients are eligible if they are homebound, have special dietary needs, and cannot cook or shop for themselves.
"A simple delivery of daily meals not only improves overall health outcomes, but also saves our clients from the risk of additional financial hardship, reduces falls, and prevents unnecessary hospitalizations or readmission."
